I Went 1 Hour Without My Phone
It transformed my life. But I won't do it again.
Crypto. AI. The Algorithm. The MATRIX.
A transhumanist society is on the verge of taking over and we are plunging into darkness forever.
I guess.
The world is still basically the same as it was 200 years ago if you just look up from your 6-inch screen for once.
Literally look around. Technology hypnotizes us into believing we are far more advanced than we are.
Rural America is just fields, trees, wild animals, shoddy sheds, cranky grandmas and aunties, and perhaps a Dollar General. That’s the modern world. A Dollar General and, if you’re lucky, maybe a Wendy’s.
Yes, we have rocket ships and Teslas, but that represents about 0.01% of the planet. Elon is a great hypeman.
Technology feels all-consuming because information is instant. You scroll through reels and time travel feels possible. There are 10,000 women saved on your phone, and you can yap with any of them at any time.
It’s an illusion.
Turn off your screen. You’ll see.
When I went without my iPhone for an hour, I heard birds chirping. I felt the wind against my cheek. I felt God’s love consume me.
Time moved more slowly than I had ever felt. I realized I had everything I needed at that very instant.
One hour felt like ten years, and it was beautiful.
Then I went back inside, picked up my phone because I thought of a funny tweet to post.

Well said
